In the contemporary economy, e-learning applications appear as new generation development and learning models in Turkey and all around the world. This inevitable change in learning culture continues to progress, bringing numerous innovations along with it.

Lately, increasing demand for e-learning and the expansion of its influence presents the question: “What is happening in e-learning world?”

Although the technological side of e-learning is more emphasized in parallel with the recent technological progress in the field, e-learning intends to render life more joyful with the new additions it offers to the activity of learning.

On the one hand, with new technologies like the virtual class and mobile learning, the necessary amount of training can be offered when and wherever it is needed; thus lifting the barriers to knowledge. On the other hand, employee performance and motivation is maximized with the help of game-based trainings, simulations and hobby trainings, transferring the fun of life to the learning process.

The field of e-learning deals no more with questions like “What is e-learning?”, “Is it beneficial?”, or “Why e-learning?” The new agenda of today’s e-learning world includes subjects such as,

• More effective and interactive educational learning contents utilizing new Internet-based technologies,
• Blended learning models in which classroom training and e-learning models are offered together,
• Virtual class and on-line collaboration applications,
• Learning management systems where class training and e-learning models are administered together,
• Authoring (content development) tools that assists the expert in the learning production process, and
• Mobile learning applications.

Today, e-learning is rapidly becoming a complementary part of human-resources-based learning and professional development applications.
